A godly divine order and connection. She is a leader in her circles of influence, a mental health advocate, a mother, a sister indeed, and a strong and passionate lover of humanity.
Jackie and I connected soon after the initial launch of My Skin Global on March 30, 2019. She reached out via LinkedIn, and her message went like this: “There are so many layers to peel back that I sometimes think solutions are next to impossible when it comes to colorism."
She went further to say, Francoise, history shows a lack of knowledge of our lineage. The root of mental illness and its inducing behaviors is born of the very act of abusing others, as one has been abused. Says, Jackie.
What I love about Jackie are her true convictions for our people, particularly BIPOC youth. She cares greatly about mental well-being, and her spheres of influence are grounded in those beliefs. Jackie has informed My Skin Global’s work from the beginning. A volunteer you wish to hire and retain for life She would be a great resource in that she would be the first person to help us find mental health experts to review and inform the direction of the MSG educational curriculum tool. She was the first to share her story as a black woman raising a child with special needs and how that ties front and center to history and hierarchies, mental health, colorism, and its historical implications.
Jackie is a mentor and a great friend and I can't wait for the world to hear her entire story for a better tomorrow
