OFFICIAL STATEMENT & CONFERENCE OVERVIEW: UN Women 2nd EmpowerHer Conference
Nairobi, Kenya — March 2, 2026

A Moment of Historic Significance in Women’s Lives
Today, the heart of Nairobi beat with purpose, power, and possibility. The UN 2nd Women EmpowerHer Conference brought together some of the most visionary, courageous, and transformative women leaders — to be among them is nothing short of an honour that words struggle to contain.
As a representative of My Skin global, standing in the same room as these extraordinary changemakers, advocates, and trailblazers—women who have dedicated their lives to the upliftment of communities, the protection of the vulnerable, and the dismantling of systems that diminish human dignity—is a privilege that deepens our resolve and sharpens our mission.
“When women lead with purpose, the world does not just change — it transforms.”
Deep Gratitude to UN Women
We extend our heartfelt and profound gratitude to UN Women for creating this extraordinary platform. The 2nd EmpowerHer Conference was more than a gathering; it was a statement to the world that the voices of women, and particularly Black and Brown women, will no longer be relegated to the margins of global discourse. UN Women’s tireless commitment to gender equality, human rights, and women’s empowerment across every nation and every culture is the bedrock upon which conferences like this are built.
Thank you, UN Women, for holding this space. Thank you for making Nairobi the epicentre of global women’s leadership today. Your work makes our vision and passions possible.
My Skin Global at the International Stage
Today marks a defining milestone for myskinglobal. To have the opportunity to represent our organisation, our communities, and our mission at an international United Nations platform is both a validation of years of dedicated work and an acceleration of what is yet to come.
myskinglobal was born from a deep understanding that the wellness, worth, and identity of Black and Brown people, particularly women and girls, are profoundly shaped by forces that too often go unnamed and unchallenged. From educational systems that exclude our stories, to media that distorts our beauty, to the insidious global industry of skin bleaching that tells us our natural skin is something to be fixed, myskinglobal exists to push back, to redefine, and to heal. Our presence here today signals that these conversations are not niche — they are global. They are urgent. They are necessary.
Our Core Pillars of Change
myskinglobal’s work rests on five interconnected pillars that together form a comprehensive framework for empowerment:
✦ Educational Curriculum — We develop and deliver culturally affirming, identity-centred educational programmes that equip young Black and Brown students with the knowledge, language, and confidence to understand their own worth, their history, and their future.
✦ Mental Health & Emotional Wellbeing — We champion accessible, culturally competent mental health partnerships, resources, and conversations that address the specific psychological impacts of colourism, racial trauma, and identity-based discrimination.
✦ Self-Esteem & Identity — Through workshops, community programmes, and digital platforms, we hope to build the internal architecture of confidence in young people who have been taught, in a thousand subtle and overt ways, to see themselves as less.
✦ Colorism & Skin Bleaching Awareness — We lead critical, compassionate, and evidence-based advocacy against the global skin bleaching epidemic, engaging communities, policymakers, health professionals, and educators in honest conversations about root causes, health consequences, and sustainable change.
✦ Global Partnerships with Women Leaders — We actively seek and cultivate partnerships with women leaders, organisations, and institutions around the world who share our commitment to the dignity and empowerment of Black and Brown communities.
A Call for Partnership & Collaboration
Today is not just a moment to celebrate; it is a call to act. myskinglobal arrives at the 2nd EmpowerHer Conference with open hands, an open heart, and a clear vision: that the most powerful change happens when women and organisations align their missions, share their resources, and amplify one another’s voices.
We are actively seeking collaboration with leaders, institutions, NGOs, policymakers, educators, health professionals, and advocates who are committed to:
✦ Dismantling the structural and cultural forces that drive colourism and skin bleaching globally.
✦ Embedding identity-affirming content in educational systems across Africa, the Caribbean, the UK, North America and beyond.
✦ Expanding access to culturally responsive mental health support for Black and Brown communities.
✦ Amplifying the voices of women and girls who have been silenced by shame, stigma, and systemic inequality.
✦ Building a global network of women leaders who centre the experiences of the most marginalised.
If your mission aligns with ours, if you believe, as we do, that every Black and Brown person deserves to inhabit their skin with joy, confidence, and pride, then this is the beginning of a conversation we must have.
“Partnership is not just strategy. It is solidarity. It is how change scales from community to the global platforms.”
Being the Voice of Change for Black and Brown People
myskinglobal does not speak about Black and Brown communities — we speak from within them, with them, and for them. Our founders, team, and partners carry lived experience of colourism, of being told their skin was too dark, of watching mothers and sisters reach for bleaching creams in search of a belonging that should never have been conditional on their complexion.
That pain is real. But so is the resilience. So is the joy. So is the power. At this UN Women 2nd EmpowerHer Conference, we reaffirm that myskinglobal will continue to be an unapologetic, evidence-driven, community-rooted voice for the dignity and liberation of Black and Brown people everywhere.
Gratitude, Solidarity & Forward Movement
To every woman in this room today — thank you. Thank you for your courage. Thank you for your service. Thank you for refusing to be quiet. The work you do, in every corner of this world, makes the work of organisations like myskinglobal not only possible but meaningful.
We leave today’s 2nd EmpowerHer Conference not with conclusions, but with commitments. Commitments to deepen our partnerships, broaden our reach, strengthen our curricula, and ensure that the story of Black and Brown identity, in all its complexity, beauty, and power, is told with truth, love, and global reach.
“We are not waiting for the world to change. We are the change. And today, we are unstoppable.”
